He has taught standards ranging from beginners to AMEB diploma leval students. Arthur takes special interest in VCE Music Performance tuition (theory and practical). All lessons are conducted from his private studio. His students have been very successful in AMEB exams (all of whom have been awarded a Pass with Honours or higher) and competitions/eisteddfods around Melbourne (see student achievements below). Arthur was awarded the 1st Prize for the Senior Section Teacher at the 2015 Bernstein National Piano Competition.

Arthur is a passionate music teacher with a teaching philosophy that is based in a strong belief in every student’s potential to excel in music. With regards to piano/theory/musicianship, Arthur emphasises the development of his students' aural and sight reading skills as well an overall musical development including general knowledge and music analysis dependent upon the student’s age.

Arthur has extensive experience with AMEB exams, the AMEB piano for leisure course as well as the Suzuki teaching method. In addition, Arthur offers his students many performance opportunities, particularly with the Music Society of Victoria Blackburn centre, which he helps to run.

Arthur is very familiar with the current VCAA study designs of Music Performance (Solo) and has taught many VCE music students in both the practical and theory/aural components after having gained a perfect score (50) himself in 2011. His commitment to tutoring students extends past tutoring lessons with the provision of notes as well as phone/email services as communication and learning tools.

Student Testimonial

"Arthur is an amazing piano teacher with highly professional performing skills. His lessons are always enjoyable, as he pays attention to not only the technical details of every piece, but also the emotions to be expressed and the scenes to be set out. He has definitely helped me improve dramatically by pushing me to do my utmost best in every piece, and allowing me to explore greater potential within myself through his passionate teaching. " ~ Jasmine, 2016

Music Adjudicator

Arthur is the adjudicator for all instrumental music sections at the 2015 Kerang Eisteddfod and has substantial experience with judging and critiquing music students through his school and university platforms.

Masterclasses

Closely related to his passion for teaching, is the notion of the public masterclass. Arthur values the time that he spends with any student whether it be regular private lessons or public masterclasses. He holds the belief that masterclasses present invaluable performance opportunities whilst allowing students to benefit from a different point of view and most of all, be inspired and challenged in their musical development. Many of Arthur's most exciting moments in his music career come from the time he spent with brilliant concert pianists and pedagogues from Australia and overseas - all of whom planted seeds of inspiration that have compelled Arthur to continue in his musical journey and also give back to others of a younger generation.
