Welcome to the site of Arthur Athan

“Arthur is a first-class young artist with a thorough technique and an exemplary devotion and assiduity to the sheer hard graft that is required to play with the expressive fluency that conceals all effort. He is a real musician. Arthur...shows a joy in music-making supported by an uncluttered, open-hearted faith."

Dr Leslie Howard, internationally renowned Aus/UK concert pianist

“Arthur undoubtedly is a very gifted musician possessing an enormous talent in both the theoretical and performance aspects of music... I have given numerous master classes throughout Europe and Australia and have found Arthur’s playing and dedication to music quite striking in its originality and finesse."

Anthony Halliday, concert pianist, organist and teacher

"A fine musical talent"

Paul Badura-Skoda

“Arthur represents a freshness of a new generation of interpreting Sculthorpe’s music”

Marshall McGuire, harpist, artistic director

"The final performer for the evening was Melbourne pianist Arthur Athan. The stage had been filled with an abundance of sound already during the concert but when Arthur played the opening chords of Tchaikovsky’s 1st Piano Concerto, it was obvious that the amount of sound able to be produced by a piano is on a completely different playing field to the single line instruments. The rendition was not just faultless, but spellbinding. Arthur was literally bouncing out of his seat due to the amount of energy he was giving. There was a time in the third movement when Arthur's hands were moving so fast that it looked like they weren’t moving at all."

Katy Frewen-Lord, Director of the Australian Concerto and Vocal Competition 2015
